8 Bill Siggers: He Whacked the Bloody Lot Robert Heal
Breachurst, UK, 1985 Softcover Very good condition. Label residue inside page
Very very hard-to find copy of the biography of the infamous Bill Siggers and the story of the famous Ouborough Kennels (Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds). Packed full of fascinating details from the early 1900's, includes black and white photographs of some 'foundation' dogs. And yes, I'm afraid available copies (if you can find them) do go for these prices. The book has a stamped author's signature, but this is a posthumous joke of Mr Sigger's, who died prior to publication.

OTR Publications 1997 0940269139 / 9780940269132 New hardcover

While not for the beginner seeking information on how to care for a Boston Terrier, this is a great breed history for those more hard-core Boston-lovers. As a pure American breed, the author traces it's origin, it's rise to fame as a wonderful pet and companion, and it's life in the media spotlight.

13 Bulldogs Today Chris Thomas
Ringpress Books, 1st Edition 1995 1860540058 / 9781860540059 Hardcover, DJ Used copy in pristine condition. Collectible.
The Bulldog - Britain's national breed - is one of the most distinctive-looking of all dogs, with a powerful, muscular body, a large head, and a unique, pugilistic expression. The Bulldog sums up British determination, and is associated worldwide with the legendary John Bull. However, the Bulldog's fierce appearance belies a most affectionate nature, and the breed is an ideal family companion.

In this highly comprehensive Book of the Breed, the author traces the history of the Bulldog, which is one of Britain's oldest breeds, through to its present-day status as loyal family companion and popular show dog. The Breed Standard is analysed in detail, illustrated with line drawings by J Hay Hutchinson, the noted Bulldog authority. Puppy care and training, adult maintenance, breeding and rearing a litter, plus the Bulldog in the show ring, are all given detailed coverage, making this book a must for all Bulldog enthusiasts.

14 Bullmastiff Manual Bill Walkey
Kingdom/TFH 1999 1852790350 / 9781852790356 2nd Edition Hardcover Very Good
The names Bullmastiff, Bull and Mastiff, Bandog, Tiedog, and Gamekeeper's Night Dog have created an identity confusion of the breed known today as the Bullmastiff. It is one of the few dogs that was not adopted by Royalty and hence has not enjoyed the promotional publicity enjoyed by such breeds. Owing to this, its origins, purposes and history have become a little obscure over time and lost in the annals of history. In the 1930's, breed historians such as Eric Makins and Arthur Craven did their best to acquaint the public with the breed of that time.
This book provides background, methods and a 'how-to' for novices and first-time owners, plus a host of information for the long-time fancier, in a comprehensive format to supplement the true fancier's library.
